The Cottage House topic has me thinking again about that good deep fried broccoli they used to have. I did try the Long John Silver broccoli bites......sorry......but I thought they were nasty. I guess I'm gonna' have to get out the ol' deep fryer and do it the hard messy way!!!! :) What temp should my oil be? 375 degrees hot enough? I know if it's not hot enough they will just be greasy......and NOT good. Am I the only person that really LOVES deep fried broccoli? LOLOL YUMMMMM......dipped in a little cheese sauce. OH MY WORD!!!!! Please advise me on my oil temperature. I've never been much of a deep fryer at home. But nobody else offers deep fried broccoli, so you gotta' do what ya' gotta' do sometimes. :) :) :) I have a big ol' bag of fresh broccoli in the fridge just dying to be deep fried!!!!

I just get a few heads of Broccoli from the store..Cut into strips...mix up some eggs.. soak the strips in the eggs.. then put the strips into bread crumbs...shake till they are coated well.. drop into your deep fryer for a few minutes.. what works good also is the beer batter mix too..for a dip I usually make a c*cktail sauce mixing ketchup and horse radish to taste.. This also works great with cauliflower..

Thank you NaturalMan for your recipe. I can't wait to try it. And thank you 1goddess for the info about the broccoli bites at LJS. This site is a great resource. :)

For real??? I went to the Long John Silver's website and didn't find deep fried broccoli as a side dish option. I would love it if they do make it here since I have a thing for the fried fish with the malt vinegar.

Do you live locally....so you know they do serve it here? Thanks!

I would love an easy ....REALLY good recipe for deep fried broccoli. I don't know of a restaurant in town (or any where else) that offers it anymore. The Cottage House used to have it years ago as a side dish. It was SO good!!!

I would love a really good recipe that is not complicated. It would be great to have a recipe from someone like Bushman....and there are others....that is really good....all the errors already worked out. Just a good....tried and true recipe for fried broccoli. I do have a deep fryer, but it's ancient. I hate to use SO much oil too.. I would much prefer to do it in a regular pot of oil. However, I'm hoping to have my kitchen re-done soon, so maybe I'll have a built in deep fryer. Nah....still sounds like too much trouble. I would truly love a really good recipe for deep fried (breaded) broccoli.

Thanks in advance.
