I clean, wash, and chop the celery. Then I bag in a freezer bag and freeze. Works really well if you are using it in a cooked dish. I do this a lot to use in potato soup.

I have a celery keeper that I got from Tupperware years ago. I don't know if they still have them but if not you may be able to find a plastic container the same size that will work. I cut the bottom off and put the celery on paper towels in the bottom. It works.

Alone - I've had great luck wrapping any remaining celery stalks in aluminum foil. I can get it to last a long, long time by doing this. Make sure all remaining stalks are fully surrounded by the aluminum foil, and it seems like it lasts forever (months for me).

Divide the stalk into 2 or 3 sections by cutting down through the base stem. Wrap each new stalk in a double thickness of paper towels. Fold towels so that both top and bottom are covered as well as are the ribs. Place 2 rubber bands, one at top and one at bottom, over the stalk. Store in crisper. Best to have room in crisper so that the items, not just the celery, has room to breathe. Use and rewrap as needed. BTW, lettuce needs to have the cello wrap removed and be rewrapped in paper towels. Don't remove the old leaves before doing this. This will give you several extra days of use before it goes bad.

Cabbage--don't remove the extra outer leaves.

Green onions. Treat same as celery.

Bananas: Cut the bananas off the stalk, leaving about 1/2" of the stem attached to the banana. Do not store in basket with apples or onions. This will give you several more days before bananas o bad. If the bananas start to go bad then peel, mush up good, place in ziplok freezer bag. Flatten bag. Freeze for later use in breads and muffins. (I also do not buy bananas that are completely ripe. I like some green on them as they will begin ripening as soon as you write the check for your groceries.

Any tips on keeping celery fresh? I am not a big fan of celery just by itself but like to use it in chicken salad, stuffing, tuna salad and a few other things but when I buy a bunch I always end up throwing away alot of it because I use it on a irregular basis. Any tips?
