I know it is too late, but I will give you a recipe for next year. I used a pound bag of black eyed peas. Soak overnight. In the morning drain water and put in crock pot. Add more water to about an inch over peas. Add a pack of the ham chunks. You can buy them in the meat section...little packs of pork to add to pintos and such. Add a little salt and pepper and red pepper flakes. Cook all day on low. Stir occasionally. If the water evaporates I will add a little chicken broth every so often. About half way through the day I added a bag of kale chopped up. Can also add spinach or collards. This takes care of three of your good fortune foods for New Year's Day in one pot.
