Ok...thank you wrongbody. I didn't know that about eggs. I thought they only added moisture.

You could use 1/2 tsp of baking powder if you want , but 5 eggs will cause it to rise

Home just wondering if you use plain flour without adding baking powder, how does the cake rise?

plain flour

butter flavor is fine
I''ve used all kinds of milk and they work fine, even buttermilk, but the original recipe is for whole milk

home...is that self rising flour and can that crisco be butter flavored as well? Should the milk be whole milk or can it be any of the others 1-2% or skim milk? Thanks.

I think that a cream cheese pound cake is very good. I don't have the recipe with me( at a friends house) but you can google it and find it. I know that it takes 3 sticks of butter, not margarine, 3 cups sugar, 6 eggs, 8 oz cream cheese. Be sure to add the almond flavoring, it makes a big difference.
