Wow!!!! Someone sure has you snowed. He's the root of all the "good ole" boy problems in Wilkes, Ashe and Alleghany. And definitely should be the first to go.

Well based on how this story reads, it looks like the others mentioned previously are off the hook.

Ex-mayor arrested on drug chargesChuck Hubbardjournalpatriot |
Former North Wilkesboro Mayor Neil Cashion was arrested Tuesday in connection with the Nov. 7 seizure of marijuana and non-tax paid liquor from a storage building at 1615 Industrial Drive in Wilkesboro during a raid by law enforcement officers, reported Lt. Jason Delbert of the Wilkesboro Police Department.
Felony charges filed Tuesday again Cashion, 65, were possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver within 1,000 feet of a public park (Lowe's Park at River's Edge).
Misdemeanor charges filed against Cashion were simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of non-tax paid liquor.
Cashion, of Forest Drive, Wilkesboro, turned himself in at the Wilkes Intake Center in the Wilkes County Courthouse, Delbert said. He was released under a $15,000 secured bond.
Delbert reported that the charges were filed after results from a State Bureau of Investigation lab were received and after consultation with the district attorney's office.
Cashion was elected a North Wilkesboro town commissioner in 1979. Two years later, he was elected mayor of North Wilkesboro and served in that capacity until November 1993, when he was defeated by Conley Call. Cashion was again elected a North Wilkesboro commissioner in 1995. He resigned in 1999, when he moved to Wilkesboro.
Seized from the building at the time of the raid were about 8 pounds of marijuana in a FedEx box, almost a gallon and a half of non-tax paid liquor, $4,600 in cash, a computer tower, jars and baggies used to hold marijuana and paraphernalia, including a metal pipe used for smoking and rolling papers, Delbert said.
The marijuana had a value of $10,000, Delbert stated in his report.
A number of Wilkesboro officers assisted with searching the building.
Based on information obtained at the scene during the execution of a search warrant, additional search warrants were issued by a magistrate. Wilkesboro police were assisted by Wilkes Sheriffs Department personnel in searching two other locations outside the city limits, Delbert said.
Wilkesboro Police Chief Robert Bowlin said District Attorney Tom Horner was consulted in the investigation and in determining what charges should be filed.
Bowlin declined to comment on the arrest. This case is pending before the court system now, he said. It would be improper for us to comment on the case at this point in time.

I don't think the DA in Wilkes is a stand up guy. I think at best he is lazy. Every one get a plea bargian. I have studied illegal drugs in Wilkes and I personally know a lot of drug dealers. A dealer can get caught with 5000 pills, a pound of crack or meth and they get a plea bargain down to an oz of pot. I have seen it over and over. Either because our DA is on the take or he is lazy. I don't know for sure which.

If our DA really wants to get drugs out of Wilkes he won't deal with Neil until Neil tell what he knows. Neil is the key to illegal drug sells in Wilkes.

I think that also. The powers that be wants this to end. However, if this does happen we will know where our DA stands.

Not in this deal, but yes, there is a female that is in deep doo-doo with IRS. Something about everything she owns has been seized maybe, rumor maybe, just a sayin' |
