Do you love Jesus enough to keep his word?

Bitter. To live the Lord God is to keep His word. The Ten Commandments was given to the Lord God by the Father. We are to keep them. You fail to understand that Jesus taught the world the Commandments. Jesus can't go back on his word. You will either keep them or not. That is where the Holy Spirit come in. If you carry the Holy Spirit you will keep the commandments of God. Sin is breaking the Commandments of God. Gods people lives by them.

M, once again you completely failed to refer to any of the "Words of Jesus." I hate to break it to you, but your claims of having a belief system based on those words is severely lacking. We will explore that more in a bit.

The commandments recorded in Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Numbers were given by God to the Israelites as part of His covenant with them. Any unbiased reading of Exodus 19 shows this to be true. God ordered Moses to offer the covenant to the Israelites. In verse six God promises to make them a "Holy Nation." In verse five, God promised that the Children of Israel would be a "particular treasure" held in higher esteem than all the other people on earth. As you have so poignantly demonstrated, there is no record of Jesus saying that we are under the "Ten Commandments." The answer to you question is "The commandments (all of them) are the laws of God for the Israelites but not for those of us who follow Christ."

From what part of Holy Scripture did you glean the idea that believers are baptized in the "Ten Commandments?" Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) Did I miss where He said to baptize in the "Ten Commandments?"

Let's play a game called "What Jesus said." You defend your belief system using actual quotes from Jesus and so will I. Provide references (I'll even let you pick the version of the Bible you want to useI prefer the New American Standard Version (1995 Edition) but the choice is yours.) The only rule is that we have to quote Jesus. You can't use rhymes with or He meant XYZ, only bonified quotes. Since you claim to follow the "Words of Jesus" this should be easy for you. I'll even give you the first move.

Bitter, Are the Ten Commandments Gods laws or not? What I said I said because it is the TRUTH. The same words that God spoke to the Hebrews. Are presented to everyone that calls on him. Will you be his people? We are to be obedient to The Ten Commandments. We are baptized in Ten Commandments. We give allegiance to The FATHER to be obedient to the Son to be obedient to the Holy Spirit to be obedient. We didn't get baptized into any religion. We give our word to GOD. Remember Satan has not got the power to make you go against the Commandments of God. You and only you can make that choice. Truth is Jesus can't make you keep them either. You keep them out of love for what he has done. Jesus can protect you from SINNING if you carry his WORDS inside you. Satan is always looking for a way to get you away from Jesus. Satan can only TEMPT YOU WITH what you have in your heart.
Facts are the Jews just like Christianity has created themselves there very own Religions

M, for a person who claims that his beliefs are based on the "Words of Jesus" you sure do not rely on them when making religious claims. Let's go through your diatribe one mistake at time, shall we?

You posted "Jesus took upon himself all that was given to Moses upon himself but one thing that he couldn't take away. That is the Ten Commandments. Those are the laws of God. They can never be changed." Didn't Jesus say that He had been given "All power in heaven and in earth"? (Matthew 28:18) Do you find it odd that He said "All power" and not "I can do anything except nullify the Ten Commandments?" Care to share where Jesus said that his followers were bound by the Ten Commandments? Oh, that's right, you can't. That verse isn't to be found.

Jesus did say that the "greatest commandment in the Law" was "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."(Matthew 22) He was quoting Deuteronomy 6:5, which is not one of the "Ten Commandments." Odd that when asked to name the most important commandment Jesus didn't pick one of the ones that (according to you) He couldn't change. To follow up on the theme, Jesus said the second most important commandment was "To love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39. He was quoting Leviticus 19:18) Remember Jesus's "New Commandment" found in John 13:34? Seems that Jesus did change "God's Law" just a little.

Of course Jesus followed the commandments (not just the "Ten" but all of them.) He was a devout Jew and sinless before God and man. That didn't stop Him from declaring that all foods were clean to eat (Mark 7:19) though God's Commandments listed a number of them that were not.

I am certainly not in a position to comment on your "friendship" with Jesus. I find it rather, shall we say, doubtful that you and He are such good friends that you can go around making up things that He said.

Bitter. Yes I did... (You asked last night at 7:33pm (my, you were a busy little beaver weren't you?) whether Jesus is Lord God. My answer to that is Yes.....)

So you say yes? We agree on something. God's WORDS can't be changed.. Ok. Listen to what the Lord God Jesus The Christ said. Disobedience brought sin into the world. Yes Adam sinned Adam went against The Lord God Jesus The Christ. Just like you saying his Commandment are not what the world needs to go by. They are the beginning of Life out of darkness. Read the Covenant God said if YOU OBEY MY VOICE I WILL BE YOUR GOD AND YOU WILL BE MY PEOPLE.
GODS WORDS HADN'T CHANGED.
, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

Exodus 20
King James Version
20 And GOD spake all these words, saying,

2 I AM THY LORD THY GOD, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

John 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."

Jesus did NOT say he who has my father's commandments and keeps them. Jesus said He who has My commandments and keeps them.

Are you able to see the difference here?

The law ( Moses Laws) and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail

Bitter you fail to understand sin is disobedience. If it was a sin yesterday it's still a sin today. Jesus took upon himself all that was given to Moses upon himself but one thing that he couldn't take away. That is the Ten Commandments. Those are the laws of God. They can never be changed. Jesus said to love the Lord God with all your heart. Do you show your love by being disobedient? If Jesus obeyed we as being his Disciples and baptized into the Father SON and Holy Spirit should also be obedient to the Father. I'll continue to be a friend to Jesus. Maybe one day your eyes will open and you will see truth.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

M, you silly goose, I just admire the way you skip over things that Jesus is recorded as having said when those words fail to fit into your narrative. I find it amusing that you keep reverting to the same misunderstanding. There is a difference between the commandments of Jesus and the "Ten Commandments."

I know that you find that hard to grasp, so let's look at Jesus's words. I will be sure to provide sources for you. Because I don't want you to take my word for it, I'll let Jesus do the talking.

I think by now we all know that Jesus never said anything like "Keep the Ten Commandments." If He had you would have provided the book, chapter and verse. You can't find it and I know it's not written anywhere in the Bible.

Yesterday evening, at 7:32pm you posted 1 John 2:4 and then provided your version of commentary. You said "So if you say you know him and don't keep the commandments is a liar." Your commentary, if it relates to the "Ten Commandments" is blatantly wrong. Jesus said "If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love." (John 15:10) The writer John was merely emphasizing what Jesus had said earlier. Jesus made a clear distinction between "My commandments" and "My Father's commandments." As you so adeptly posted on 9/11/2022 at 10:47pm "Jesus said what He said for a reason." If Jesus had meant for us to come to the conclusion that you have incorrectly reached He would have said something like "If you keep the Father's commandments, like I have done. . . . "

You asked last night at 7:33pm (my, you were a busy little beaver weren't you?) whether Jesus is Lord God. My answer to that is yes, Jesus is Lord and Jesus is God but He is not "God the Father." Jesus made it very clear that there is a distinction between Himself and God the Father. There are more than one hundred instances found in the four Gospels where Jesus refers to God the Father. I am not going to belabor the point by listing all of them, but just to keep my promise of providing references I will list a few: Mark 13:32, John 14:6, John 14:28, John 17, and Luke 22.

If you do not want to take Jesus's word that He and the Father are different, then perhaps you will take God's word for it. Refer to Matthew 3 where we find one of the rare instances when all three, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are recorded as being together. It was after Jesus was baptized. "After being baptized Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold a voice out of the heavens said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." So, we have God the Son, Jesus; God the Holy Spirit coming down and landing on Jesus; and God the Father's voice coming from heaven.

Jesus gave us new commandments (the same ones He tells us to keep in John 15.) You don't acknowledge the one found in John 13 when Jesus said "A new commandment I give unto you. . ." but you won't find that one in the old "Ten Commandments." Neither will you find Jesus's commandment to us found in Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

These are Jesus's words M. Why don't they "float?"

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death...

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Mhj is closed minded and refuses to understand as he's only interested in displaying his stupidity. It's better to let him go on his on and pray for him that one day his eye will be opened like Saul.

Bitter is Jesus the Lord God?

mhj

Bitter. Nice try but it don't float.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him...( "So if you say you know him and don't keep the commandments is a liar." )

According to you then his word can't save. I disagree because I keep the commandments. If you had faith in Jesus. You would accept the words of Jesus. Why do you find it hard to understand what sin is? Sin is going against the Commandments of God.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

M, M, M, M. . .there you go again, do we really have to re-hash this?

No, John didn't lie. You did though. You misquoted him. John actually wrote "He that saith, I know Him [Christ] and keepeth not His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him." (1 John 2:4) Jesus, Himself, tells us that His commandments are not the same as God the Father's commandments. Look at John 15:10, "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." Furthermore, Jesus said "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." (John 13:34) If Jesus says His commandments are "new" why do you keep running back to the old ones?

You keep making the same mistake in assuming that Jesus's commandments are the "Ten Commandments" and they are not. I've asked you to show me what verse you keep turning to for this misbegotten source of information and you have yet to provide one. Is the problem that it isn't there?

mhj

Bitter. It's Jesus that will judge you not Christianity. In the beginning was the Word. The word is Spirit. So the Spirit is Gods words put into action. Jesus brought to you the word of God for people to be doers of. The Ten Commandments is the Spirit of God. They are his words that will dwell in people who accepts Jesus. How can you be saved from sin if you continue in the same path you have always traveled in. A Christian is a glorified sinner that has rejected The Holy Spirit. Jesus didn't create the Christian Religion. Satan did. You got choices in life. I show my love of God by keeping his Commandment. Satan can ONLY TEMPT YOU.

Thou shalt not BOW DOWN THYSELF TO THEM, nor SERVE THEM: for I THE LORD THY GOD AM A JEALOUS GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing MERCY UNTO THOUSANDS OF THEM THAT LOVE ME, and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

This is how we are to live, .. It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

49.. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

John tells us that if we say we love Jesus and don't keep the commandments makes us a liar. Is John lying?
