While the driver of the BMW needs to be held accountable for his actions, he and the passager are still human with family or friends who love them too. I pray Grace over Troop Bullard's family and also over Whitt's family. Either situation to be in as a family member or loved one is just horrible. For those of us who say I am Christian it is called prayers for all involved in this. Not sure what the good could be to come out of this but maybe somehow someway it will.

A young man is dead because of an accident caused by criminals who started a high speed chase. It's tragic and (I don't care about your feelings towards police) no one deserves to die in the line of duty.

No he died because he was driving to fast and above his capabilities which cause an accident.

I was traveling on 77 last week doing 75. I seen a marked Shp approaching quickly from behind. I just knew i had a ticket awaiting. No flashing lights or siren, he went by me like i was sitting parked....

Actually accidents caused by the highway patrol happen fairly regularly. There are usually one or two a year where someone is hurt very seriously or killed because the tropper was traveling too fast.

What most don’t realize is the law says emergency vehicles must maintain a safe speed in a pursuit or emergency situation. But unfortunately the cops usually aren’t held accountable for the damage they cause. Maybe this one will cause the NCHP to rethink their policies.

Policy change needs to be made. A lot more people could have been killed in this situation. They had the tag number, pick them up later. No matter who you are you can lose control and kill yourself.

A traffic check isn’t the place for civil disobedience.

If you don’t like the momentary intrusion, stage a sit in at the HP headquarters or the courthouse.

My condolences to the Bullard family and a Thank You to all of the LEOs that do the difficult job of trying to enforce the law. Try driving through a check point in another country and you will be stopped with bullets. There is a time and a place for everything but some of your comments are really sick.

If some dies as a result of a felony being committed, no matter the intent, the person committing the felony may be charged with murder.

Then don't bother calling the law next time someone breaks into your house because they're just doing "as they please!"

I don't think they have much to worry about in this judicial district. Remember the guy that only got 5 years for fatally cutting his neighbors throat?

My condolences to the family and friends of this young man. A life so young and gone too soon. 2 others still here and their actions by running from the law ending in a man dying. They have many charges against them but I don’t think murder should be charged. High speed chases should stop, you can’t outrun a radio and they usually go to their homes and pick them up.
